It’s October. That means we have about two more months before the Christmas shopping takes over. This is the perfect time to get all the goodies you need to make your home, car and office look and feel ‘Christmasy.’ We assume everyone knows what Christmasy means. If you happened to have hopped off the planet for a while, it’s simply making your surroundings depict the season in splendor.
Start with red, green and white in combination for decorations that will make the holiday spirit embrace you and your place of work. Holiday colours not your style? No problem. Work with silver and gold, or simply display some poinsettias tastefully.
All conscientious homemakers know that before the fancy holiday décor comes the big cleaning. So that should be planned for. It doesn’t have to be a big deal, of course, since many people simply refresh their surroundings by repainting, cleaning up the yard, trimming the trees, rearranging the furniture and buying new ones. And that works!
But for those who want to embrace the spirit fiercely, there are some must get items for your home that will bring the holiday spirit to life. These include: candles and candle holders, curtains, carpets, mats, towels and a vase or two decorated in holiday colours, or just colours you like. Poinsettias at Christmas spark up your garden, patio or interiors and will show house guests that you have the spirit.
Poinsettias are also a great way to give your office that festive look and feel. If there isn’t an office display then ask your boss or supervisor if you can put one on your desk. If you can’t do that, little items like ‘holiday’ stationery, i.e. colourfully decorated pens, pencils, or note pads will do. Stocking a jar with red and white peppermint candy on your desk for yourself and colleagues is another smart way to bring the holiday décor to your workspace.
That candy jar will also work for your car, as will season decorated pillows, Christmas branded seat covers and maybe a teddy bear or Santa.
It’s just about creating that happy, Christmasy atmosphere to help you, friends and family to enjoy the holiday season more. Don’t wait till December to get the spirit, go now and get a head start. Happy holiday décor shopping!
