Hardware & Lumber Ltd. has a new Information Technology System, S2K Enterprise. The enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution was developed by Vormittag Associates, an IBM Premier Business Partner based in Long Island, New York.

S2K Enterprise is expected to bring greater efficiencies across the company's divisions, including goods procurement, inventory management, distribution, financial management as well as order management and point of sale.

"A software platform that fully satisfies the needs of our business is critical in a competitive market," says Yvette Johnson, Chief Information Officer. The fully integrated S2K Enterprise solution will meet the complex needs of the H&L business model, which involves both retail and wholesale operations along with a centralized distribution system, according to Johnson.

Key benefits expected to accrue to the business include improved procurement, a more efficient distribution operation as well real-time access to key business metrics. Along with the S2K implementation the H&L Group has embarked on a series of warehouse improvement projects to complement the technological efficiencies the new software brings. "The end result will be an overall improvement in the customer experience for our wholesale/reseller customers as well as our retail shoppers" Johnson promises.
