Hardware & Lumber to expand chain - Wehby drafting new strategic plan

Rapid TrueValue StoteHardware and Lumber Limited, a subsidiary of the GraceKennedy group, is looking to build its chain of stores operating under the name Rapid TrueValue in and outside of Kingston.

But chief executive officer of GK Investments, Don Wehby, under whose portfolio the retail operation falls, said Tuesday the size of the investment to be made was dependent on the finalisation of a strategic plan that he was in the middle of formulating.

H&L releases second quarter results

The financial results for the six months ending June 30, 2007 showed net Profit of $31 million compared to net loss of $6.9 million for the comparative period in 2006. Sales were $3,116 million compared to $2,528 million for the comparable period last year.

Rapid True Value storeHardware and Lumber Limited (H&L), a subsidiary of Grace-Kennedy Limited, realised net profit of $24.6 million for the first quarter ending March 31, eightfold its earnings for the matching period last year.
